FLUENCY - a GREAT way to restart my blog!
Learners should be celebrating - fluency is now an important part of the curriculum, especially in reading! After presenting workshops for over 30 years, I’m thrilled to see that fluency has finally become mainstream and hopefully popular!
One type of reading fluency is about accurate and fast reading, for oral reading. From this foundation comes the importance of reading expression that can change the meanings of any sentence. Reading expression is such an important part of presentations and performances. Lastly, silent reading fluency has been supported by evidence-based research for more than a decade.
These THREE components of fluency are supported by 3 Resource Manuals for Teachers and Parents: Daily Best Fluency for Comprehension, Reading Expression for Comprehension and Silent Reading to Comprehend and Learn.
The goal of these resource manuals is to provide evidence-based strategies & explicit teaching for both parents and teachers. These strategies support readers to become more fluent and experience the joys of reading and learning.
