  1. Question-Answering Samples

      a) Free Curriculum Based Assessments - A free curriculum-based assessment has been developed for each package. Currently, for regular classroom teachers,  Level B, Level C, Level D and Level E  are available. These are at approximate grade levels, Ledvel B for About Grade 2, as discussed within each assessment. These assessments will determine whether your class or your child would benefit from the instructional program.  For students with special needs, EXTRA Skills assessments should be used, with reasonable adjustments, as determined individually for each student. Extras Skills assessments are available for EXTRA Skills Level B, EXTRA Skills Level C, EXTRA Skills Level D and EXTRA Skills Level E. These assessments lead into materials that can be adjusted to meet the additional needs of individual students.
      b) Lesson Samples - For each level, two sample lessons are available, and selected pages from additional lessons. These samples show a range of typical skills that are covered within the programs. Currently, Samples for Level C, Extra Skills Level C, Level E and Extra Skills Level E are available. Level E is approximately at a Grade 5 level.

  2. Reading Fluency Samples

      a) Reading Fluency that works (For Primary Grades) - sample graphs

  3. Question-Answering Samplers for Consultants

    Samples of lessons from Level C and Level E, as well as Extra Skills C & Extra Skills C are available in two printed booklets. These include 5 lessons from each program. Samplers are available to consultants, who work across multiple schools. Please email Gail with your request, your consultancy role and an address to post these samplers.

  4. Newstime Success Samples

              Newstime Success Samples includes Pompt Cards and an intervention for improving oral language during News or Show & Tell sessions. Here are some selected Prompt Cards samples of those for use in kindergarten, Year 1          and Year 2 classrooms.NEW Cards are now available for younger students or students with special needs are larger and have larger visuals. A third set of cards, with more examples for writing is also available.

 

5. Readers Theatre Script Samples

Based on Rosalind Flynn's Curriculum Based Readers Theatre (CBRT ), and with Rosalind's permission, the following scripts have been adapted, in terms of language and curriculum, for Australian schools. These scripts are freely available to download for any school. The following titles have been completed and more will be completed soon:

6. NEW Persuasive Writing Scaffolds, Drafts

Two persuasive writing scaffold drafts are available. These provide support for explicit instruction in the structure of a persuasive text, in preparation for Naplan 2011.

Level C Persuasive Text Draft Scaffold, and Level E Persuasive Text Draft Scaffold are available.

These are suggested for use with Year 3 and Year 5 students, and named Level C and Level E, so can be used across grades, depending on student needs.

Teacher feedback and trialling in classrooms has supported the development of these scaffolds, which are in draft form, and part of the design of new writing materials soon to be released.
